      <description>Latin for younger students is aimed at children who have never taken Latin before, though all are welcome. It is intended for students over ten years old. We will be using a text that I have written for younger students.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Class goals:&lt;br/&gt;	•	 Learning about the Latin noun&lt;br/&gt;	•	 Learning how to read in a foreign language&lt;br/&gt;	•	 Exposure to eight authentic Latin texts&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Prerequisite concepts:&lt;br/&gt;	•	 None&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Technical requirements:&lt;br/&gt;	•	 Web browser and high-speed internet connection&lt;br/&gt;	•	 Ability to scan and e-mail documents&lt;br/&gt;	•	Microphone or webcam&lt;br/&gt;	•	 Free Skype account&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Times and costs:&lt;br/&gt;	•	 1 to 1:50 pm, Central time, Tuesday or Thursday&lt;br/&gt;	•	 $300 for full year, includes text&lt;br/&gt;	•	 5 student minimum</description>

      <title>Advanced Latin&#13;Ovid (Fall) and Cicero (Spring)</title>

      <description>Advanced Latin is for students who want to read authors of Latin literature in the original language.  Fall semester will focus on reading Ovid’s poetry and learning how Latin poetry works. Spring semester will be a look at Roman oratory with Cicero’s First Catilinarian Oration.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Class goals:&lt;br/&gt;	•	 Learning how Latin poetry works through meter and poetic devices (Ovid)&lt;br/&gt;	•	 Reading selections from Ovid’s Metamorphoses and examining their cultural impact through history (Ovid)&lt;br/&gt;	•	 Grammar review of advanced topics (Ovid)&lt;br/&gt;	•	Learning about the politics of the Roman republic (Cicero)&lt;br/&gt;	•	 Introduction to Roman oratory and rhetorical devices (Cicero)&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Prerequisite concepts:&lt;br/&gt;	•	 Two years of high-school Latin&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Technical requirements:&lt;br/&gt;	•	 Web browser and high-speed internet connection&lt;br/&gt;	•	 Ability to scan and e-mail documents&lt;br/&gt;	•	 Ability to generate PDF documents&lt;br/&gt;	•	Microphone or webcam&lt;br/&gt;	•	 Free Skype account&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Times and costs:&lt;br/&gt;	•	 2 to 2:50 pm, Central time, Tuesday and Thursday&lt;br/&gt;	•	 $700 for full year or $400 per semester, does not include text&lt;br/&gt;	•	 2 student minimum</description>
