Latin 2 is a class aimed at high-school aged students who have already taken one year of Latin. Our text for the year will be Latin for the New Millennium from Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers.
Class goals:
• Learning advanced structures of Latin
• Understanding those structures in Latin
• Overview of medieval and Renaissance literature in Latin from Bede to Copernicus and all stops in between
• Reading Nepos’s Life of Atticus
• Overview of early Western civilization
Prerequisite concepts:
• Full declension patterns of nouns and adjectives
• Hic, ille and other pronouns
• Full understanding of verbs in indicative mood
Technical requirements:
• Web browser and high-speed internet connection
• Ability to scan and e-mail documents
• Microphone or webcam
• Free Skype account
Times and costs:
• 4 to 4:50 pm, Central time, Tuesday and Thursday
• $400, does not include text
• 4 student minimum
